Jake Mercer

Hi, I'm Jake Mercer — a DIY enthusiast, weekend tinkerer, and now a fully off-grid homeowner living in rural Colorado.

I started this site because I got tired of seeing my electricity bills climb every single year. I'd dabbled in solar, looked into wind turbines, and generally spent too much time on YouTube watching other people go off-grid when I should have been doing it myself.

Then a friend mentioned magnetic generators and the Tesla blueprints. I'll be honest — my first reaction was "that sounds like nonsense." But I'm a stubborn guy, so I bought the plans and decided to find out for myself.

My Background

I've been doing DIY projects since I was a teenager. My dad was an electrician, which means I grew up comfortable around wiring, tools, and fixing things rather than calling someone to fix them. I'm not a professional engineer — I'm a regular person who enjoys building things and figuring out how stuff works.

I've built a chicken coop, rewired an old barn, and converted a diesel generator to run on vegetable oil. Magnetic generators felt like the next logical project.

My Experience with Magnetic Generators

My first build took about three weeks and was, frankly, a mess. The plans were clear enough but I made some dumb mistakes — wrong gauge wire, spent too long sourcing the magnets locally when I should have just ordered them online.

That first generator now sits in my workshop and covers about a third of the workshop's power usage. I've since built three more. The fourth is the one connected to my house, and my electricity bill last month was $0.

The whole experience is why I write about this stuff. There's a lot of misinformation on both sides — people who say it's impossible and people who make wild claims. My goal is to write honestly about what actually works and what doesn't, based on my own builds.

What You'll Find on This Site

Everything here is based on my personal experience with magnetic generators, perpetual motion experiments, and off-grid living. I cover:

  • How magnetic generators actually work
  • Where to get the plans (and what to watch out for)
  • Comparisons with solar and other off-grid options
  • Common questions and misconceptions
  • Practical tips from someone who's actually built these things

If you have questions or want to share your own build experience, use the contact page. I read every message, though I can't always reply quickly.
