Tesla's Earthquake Machine: What the 1893 Record Says

Published: October 14, 2026

Tesla's oscillator really existed: 20 pounds at 80 vibrations a second, demonstrated at the 1893 World's Fair. The earthquake story is a different matter.

Tesla's 1893 World's Fair Exhibit, Walked Through

Published: October 16, 2026

A contemporary 1894 walkthrough of Tesla's Chicago exhibit: the two-phase ring, a motor that ran on two wires, the armatures, the dark room next door.

30,000 Alternations a Second: Tesla's Lost Generator

Published: October 17, 2026

Tesla's high-frequency alternators, measured in an 1894 book: 384 poles, then 480, thirty thousand alternations a second, and the limits that stopped them.

The Paper Tesla Scribbled in Pencil: How AC Won

Published: October 18, 2026

Tesla's May 1888 AIEE paper was written in pencil the night before. The 1894 book reprints it, with the diagrams and the measured efficiencies.

Tesla Lit Lamps by Holding Them: The 1891 Proof

Published: October 19, 2026

Tesla lit glass tubes by holding them, in New York in 1891 and in London in 1892. The 1894 book prints the tests behind it: high potential, the insulated body as a return wire, a point where the light goes out.

Tesla's One-Wire Power: The Experiment Textbooks Skip

Published: October 20, 2026

Tesla told the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1892 that high-frequency currents let him work with one wire only. The 1894 book prints the apparatus: a motor, a cell and a lamp on a single connection, and his reason for doing it.

Tesla's Wireless Power Plan, In His Own Words (1893)

Published: October 21, 2026

Tesla told two engineering audiences in 1893 that he meant to transmit signals, and perhaps power, through the earth with no wire between the ends. The 1894 book prints the plan, the apparatus he specified, and the conditions he set.

Tesla's High-Frequency "Massage" Cure of 1891

Published: October 22, 2026

Tesla passed high-frequency currents through the human body in 1891 and printed exactly what he claimed. The 1894 book reproduces both pages: he refuses to be a patent-medicine man, warrants one effect (heating), and writes that whether the effects are beneficial remains to be proved.

The Flame That Doesn't Burn: Tesla's Cold Fire

Published: October 23, 2026

Tesla held a brush of electric discharge up to a London lecture audience in 1892 and asked whether it was any the less a flame because it did not scorch his hand. The 1894 book prints that question, and three separate statements that the same brush is hot. The phrase "cold flame" is in it zero times, and so is the reason he never built the lamp: he could not make the frequency.

9 Tesla Inventions From 1894 That Never Caught On

Published: October 24, 2026

Nine machines from Part III of the 1894 book, each cited to its printed page: direct current without a commutator, a condenser in oil, a meter that measures in lamp-hours, a motor run by heat. The volume reports no trial for seven of them. The only magnetic generator in it is a heat engine.

What Tesla Actually Wrote About Free Energy

Published: October 25, 2026

We searched our copy of the 1894 first edition and printed the counts: free energy 0, perpetual 0, over unity 0, and five hits for magnetic generator, every one of them inside a pyro- compound. The volume's own index files that machine under a heat word, and the chapter that describes it puts a boiler of water above a fire.

Glowing Glass in Tesla's Bare Hand: 1894's Tubes

Published: October 26, 2026

In February 1892 Tesla took an exhausted glass tube in his bare hand and it lit up, and the 1894 first edition prints what he said as he did it, at p. 288. The nine pages on exciting a tube with no wires in it are four texts by four men, and only two of them are his. 'Geissler' occurs 5 times in that volume and never once in those nine pages, and 'X-ray' occurs 0, in either spelling.
